[Jiangsu] An Juanying
Eight Poems
Helan Stone
From Xia to Shang to Zhou to Qin to East and West Han,
To Three Kingdoms to two Jins to North and South Dynasty,
To Sui to Tang to Five Dynasty and to Ten Kingdoms, to Liao
To Song to Xia to Jin to Yuan to Ming and to Qing dynasties.
800 million years forward
1000 million years backward
Helan stone
Deeply hidden in the tide water and sands of Bohai Sea
Containing the unrestrained immortal spirit of Yanshan Mountain
In the sea the immortal-oriented Helan stone rises from the ground
The reefs and the blue sky in search of their respective eternal position
Leaving one after another bloody trace running with blood
Like clouds, like the moon, like running water
All softness and hardness
To be delineated or sculpted by the tide water
Reaching the Immortal Islands of Penglai
Listening to the stories of Zheng He the great voyager who has sailed for seven times
Leading millions of soldiers to cross the sea
The sword out of the sheath in the roaring wind under the help of the stone-whip
The First Emperor of Qin patrols Jieshi
Haizi Stone, and the poet’s corner
An everlasting promise and appointment has been made
Seven Helan stones have been piled up
Waiting for all the literary men to return
Helan Princess of the ancient Helan Kingdom
Has shed her earth-shaking tears
And in the depth of the white clouds of Penglai
Five hundred arhats are sitting in meditation while closing their eyes
Touched by the loud reciting voices
From Haizi Stone and the poet’s corner
Regretful not to meet earlier
Determined to close the scripture book to resume secular life
To travel to the corners of the earth
While spreading the Four Books and the Five Classics

The Ancient Ferry of Xijin
Poetry as witness and stone as the matchmaker
Solitary wandering in the cave of Avalokitesvara
Drawing lots fails to solve the affinity of preexistence
But without affinity to you in this life
No piping music in the mottled ancient town
The white pagoda by itself encircles the setting sun
In the pavilion of ferry waiting
Helpless waiting, helpless going, and helpless staying
Hurried travelers as strangers
Laughing at me who is still waiting by leaning against the red balustrade
The Ancient Ferry of Xijin, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, October 23, 2020

The Source of Qinhuai River
The burning begins since Qianlong Period
The halo of fire and clouds
All piety
Envelops Baohua Mountain
One end on the overhanging eave
The other end tied to Qinhuai River
The water of the fountain flies into a skyful of golden light
How to be back
To gild me as Buddha’s warrior?
Eight O’clock, the morning of October 23, 2020, Baohua Mountain, Jurong, Jiangsu Province

Travel Notes to Wulingyuan
The moonlight and the wind believe that you and I are from the same maternity
The mysterious change and flying and floating
Integrated into one with the ever changing wildness and romance
Nobody can confirm in the depth of clouds
Penetrated for countless times by the sunshine
Pandas or lambs
Or lions or dragons or phoenix?
In gentle breeze white clouds kiss the peaks to be immortals
The great noise of a mighty force travels from afar
And the camel bell
My dear, do you hear?

The Grand Canyon
Trees emerald green dewdrops glittering
Hanging on the hair
I am still thinking about how to bring you back
A stretch of soft white clouds
A handful of clear and sweet water
I do not know in the steep cliffs and forest
How many classic legends are hoarded by you
I only want to raise high my flowery kerchief
Leaving a few southern ditties
For my darling on the raft
To sing in antiphonal style

The Creek of Golden Whip
Red autumn and green spring quiet and limpid
Bright eyes gazing lingeringly
The retreating figures of us two as a pair
Alternation of the four seasons and heartbreaking parting
Leaving a few red leaves with words of comfort
Drunken with the ragged cave-sky and boudoir door and blue rocks
Reed catkins and willow piping in pursuit of the secretly running water for thousands of years
In the depth of green pool colorful garments flying
The god of the sky and the earth knows it like the hand palm
Ceaselessly looking down while forgetting oneself
To awaken the quietude beneath lotus leaves

Tianmen Mountain
A spell after another spell of wind blowing three thousand peaks
Myriads of years of vicissitudes nurture eight hundred running rivers
Thousands of hectares of cloudy sea is spreading in raging flowers
To reveal our drunken love
A skyful of letters enkindle the five-colored clouds on the sky edge
Peaks as witness, the setting sun as witness
The moon and stars by the cliff
Are my invaluable dowry
Coming late from afar
I am waiting for the bride to be married to Tianmen Mountain

The General Rock
Flying through the boundless vault of heaven
Through layers after layers of moonlight
The moon palace is elegant and quiet
Only for the grand and miraculous three thousands peaks
Only for the eight hundred fair waters in the depth of the blue
Go to the General Rock to find my love-boy
Bathed in the cloudy sea, morning fog, sunshine
Leaning in rosy clouds of one hundred flowers to listen to sound of waves and crows
Flying in a pair in Yellow Dragon Cave and Heavenly Mountain ...
